Hello, and Welcome
I am Rev. Deloris Marie Foster, Founder of Christ-Minded Ministries.
As long as I can remember, I have thirsted for God.
It has been the ever-present longing of my life to grow closer to Him—to know His will, to live in His love, and to walk in obedience to Him. Of course, like most people, I have faltered and failed. I have often come short of the Glory of God. However, through all the different seasons of my life, my deepest desire still remained the same: I have wanted God to be first in my life.
Perhaps that longing began even earlier than I understood.
A Vision at Four Years Old
When I was four years old, growing up in the hills of West Virginia, I had an experience thatremained with me throughout my life. I saw myself dressed in white, standing beneath a magnificent tree with thick, deep roots. Before me was a large gathering of smiling people with faces filled with light. I appeared to be speaking to them.
I never forgot it.
Remarkably, that vision appeared to me three more times during my adult life. And on one occasion, a man I hardly knew described a dream he had about me—a dream in which he saw the same vision that had been given to me as a child.
For me, these experiences confirmed something I had carried within me since I was four years old: my life had a spiritual calling and purpose.
As the years passed and my spiritual life unfolded, I came to understand that childhood vision as an early glimpse of a calling that was of the Spirit—a calling that would eventually lead me to speak, write, teach, tell stories and share what I have come to know about the Presence and Power of God.
The road between that little girl beneath the tree and the woman I am today has been long and sometimes difficult. But through it all, my thirst for God has remained.
And there came a time in my life when that faith would be tested in a way I could never have anticipated.
When I Came to Know the Power of God
Once upon a time, I found myself surrounded by the greatest forces of evil I have ever encountered in my life.
Serving in a powerful public office with an eight-hundred-million-dollar budget, I was outnumbered eight to one by forces that sought to intimidate, defeat and silence me.
Humanly speaking, I should have been afraid—and quite candidly, I was. However, I stood up for what I knew to be the truth anyway.
During my tenure in that office, I became even closer to God. I prayed continuously, and especially before every board meeting. Prayer became more than something I practiced. It became the place from which I entered the battles before me.
And then, Miracles began to occur.
Again and again, circumstances changed in ways that went beyond anything I could have accomplished through my own human strength. I came to know that I was not entering those battles alone. I was being accompanied by the invisible emissaries of the Lord.
Although I appeared to be outnumbered eight to one, I came with an invisible army that did battle for me. Those who sought to make me afraid began, themselves, to become afraid.
It was during those years that I came to know the Power of Almighty God in a way I had never known God before—not merely as the God I had trusted since childhood, but as a living Power and Presence operating in the midst of my life.
Others Began to Notice
What I was experiencing inwardly eventually became visible to people watching from the outside.
Newspapers began writing about the battles taking place in that boardroom and the young Black woman who, although outnumbered eight to one, continued to stand. Some compared me to Joan of Arc. One account described me as the reincarnation of Zenobia the Great, the ancient African warrior queen who dared to challenge and conquer the power of Rome.
A prominent minister and his congregation also recognized something extraordinarily spiritual taking place. They honored me with the most meaningful award and title of my life. They called me a “Miracle-Minded Master.”
The true Miracle was witnessing the Power of God's Divine Intervention in that boardroom. I saw it. I felt it. Others did too!
Those years taught me something that no sermon, book or theological teaching could ever have taught me in quite the same way:
God is real. God is present. And there is a Power available to us that is greater than the circumstances standing before us.
I entered that experience with faith in God.
I came out knowing God.
And that knowing has shaped everything I have done since.
Divine Intervention Throughout My Life
The boardroom was perhaps the most dramatic place in which I witnessed the Power of God at work, but it was not the only one.
Throughout my life, there have been other extraordinary moments when Divine Intervention saved me from serious accidents and even death. There have also been experiences in which I have witnessed the Presence of Angels.
I do not share these things to convince anyone else of what they must believe. I share them because they are part of what I know from my own life.
Again and again, I have experienced the protection, guidance and intervention of Almighty God and His Heavenly Messengers. These experiences have deepened the faith that began in me as a little girl and strengthened what I know within the depths of my soul:
We are never separated from the Presence and Power of God.
Christ-Minded Ministries
I became an ordained Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in 2012, although my spiritual journey and ministry began long before my ordination.
Through the years, I have written, taught, told stories, created music and meditations, and shared my work in churches, libraries, museums, schools, festivals and community gatherings.
Today, these many expressions of my journey have a home in Christ-Minded Ministries.
My purpose is not simply to tell people what to believe. It is to encourage people to discover and experience for themselves the Power and Presence of God within them, to develop the Mind of Christ, deepen their spiritual consciousness, and meet the circumstances of life from a place of faith.
Through prayer, meditation, spiritual music, storytelling, teaching, Black Stories of Faith, and the other expressions of Christ-Minded Ministries, I share what I have learned—and what I am still learning.
The forms of my ministry have changed through the years.
The calling has not.
At this season of my life, I am grateful for the opportunity to share the spiritual wisdom gathered along the journey and to continue fulfilling the purpose at the heart of Christ-Minded Ministries:
Thank you for being here and for sharing this journey with me.
With love and every blessing,
Rev. Deloris Marie Foster
